Mind Pinball, shut yer piehole!
Mere hours after exchanging emails with one esteemed Enchanting Sunshine, I happened to slip in this choice nugget of typed hemlock…
“I don’t want to jinx you but your prediction of a sweep may come true today!”
So what happens? Orioles lose 7-1. All because I couldn’t keep that to myself. I believe that when the Orioles started off well last year, I blamed myself for their going downhill because I told my brother-in-law that the O’s had won like 6 games in a row and they promptly went out and lost. The worst moments of the season, including the infamous “Mother’s Day Meltdown,” and the 30-run massacre, were yet to come. Usually I’m not superstitious about things like that, but once is an accident; twice is a trend. I can only hope that this isn’t the start of a downward spiral. If the O’s can keep up their good play, despite their small margin for error, they should be fine.
I have to admit, I like the way the standings look. I never dreamed that the Orioles would be doing this well so far this season. Now, I wasn’t expecting 0-22, but I was hopeful that the club would play .500 baseball. And that, I thought, was being overly optimistic. And now, 11-8 looks pretty good.
Hopefully, this guy will prove to be our centerfielder for years to come:

Off to Seattle! Go Orioles!
