Two days, 32 games and some college hoop notes:
- I’m in third place in my local pool. Way ahead of the wife (yay!), but not too far behind the two ahead of me. Let’s see if I can make up any ground. Go Kansas!
- The Maryland teams are all gone, which isn’t really surprising. UMBC and Mount St. Mary’s did what they could, but they were up against some tough competition in Georgetown and North Carolina. Those schools should be proud of their seasons, as well as the national television exposure. The same goes for American University, out of Washington, DC. They played Tennessee tough, and the final score was not as close as the game itself.
- For NIT notes, both Morgan State and Maryland are out, Morgan State in a first round loss to Virginia Tech, and the Terps bowing out at the Carrier Dome to the Syracuse Orange.
- Back to the NCAA Tournament, finally we got some real upsets and decent games. I don’t know what’s in the water down in Tampa, Florida, but all of the double digit seeds won games. My bracket took a decent hit as Clemson, Drake and Connecticut all lost. I did pick Siena to beat Vanderbilt, which helped my standing in the pool.
Looking forward to the weekend games, and hopefully to a victory. Enjoy the madness.
